Spring 2023 Update

Hello, Wonderful Backers! Happy New Year and Happy Spring! We wanted to update you on our recent progress with Through the Blinds. Some of you have asked “where can I see the film?” Well, we still have a ways to go on that! We hope to film this summer, and we do have an ask of you related to that, more in a minute.

 In the meantime, we took major steps in 2022 and the first quarter of 2023. First, our successful crowdfunding campaign allowed us to invest further in the project’s development. With the funds raised, we were able to hire lawyers and form our LLC. This was an important step in preparing to ask for investment this year. Finding our hero house is a priority for us. With our location manager (shoutout to Alison!), we were able to review over 50 homes and toured some really great options! 

We finished our fundraising investor deck led by Sylvia and Kay, and Kristine led us in putting together a rip reel (a sort of trailer that gives the mood and tone of the project for investor review). You can watch the rip reel here: https://vimeo.com/789327810/49240c68fe

Thanks to Sylvia and the Satellite Collective, we have secured fiscal sponsorship, which allows us to accept tax deductible donations in addition to investments. We are also working on hiring a casting director and reaching out to name talent. 

Our biggest next step is finding investors. This is where our ask of you comes in. If you know of any angel investors, film financiers, or simply people who may want to support Through the Blinds at a higher level, will you please send them our way? We have been taking meetings in the past couple of months, and are looking to take several more next month. We are ready and excited to get this film off the ground!
