We've Been Approved for CA Tax Credit Program! And Scheduled to Begin Production this Summer!
Hello, Friends and Supporters of Through the Blinds! We are thrilled to be able to announce great progress with our project during 2024 to now, and that we are headed into production this summer!
APPROVED FOR CA TAX CREDIT PROGRAM
We are one of 51 projects approved for the CA Tax Credit Program this year! As an independent film, it's an honor to be selected to help bring film production back to LA, and we couldn't be more excited to contribute to that effort of rebuilding and revitalizing our beloved home city post strikes and in the aftermath of the wildfires. With our own team members who have been affected by the fires, we feel passionately and strongly about this. Huge shoutout to our fellow writer/director Luisa, our producer Kay and our executive producer Luna for pulling our application together!
SLATED TO BEGIN FILMING THIS SUMMER
This is a huge cherry on the top as we have made the decision to move forward with fundraising and filming in segments starting this summer. We are really excited about this approach because after five years ideating and dreaming up this project, we are beyond ready to begin production!
MOST RECENT ACCOMPLISHMENTS:
Secured letter of interest from a distributor we feel understands our project
Applied for and received acceptance to CA Tax Credit Program!
Made decision to fundraise and film in increments, segment by segment beginning in Summer 2025 and finishing in early 2026
Luna Zhang joined our team in Executive Producer role, brought our film pitch to Cannes and is taking meetings with financiers and distributors
Met with Casting Directors to expand cast wish list
